UAL Character Design Short Course
[2021]
The UAL Character Design Course was a six-week short course led by Francesco de Manincor. The course was an excellent opportunity to consolidate and expand on my own Character Design process.
Working to a short brief allowed me to explore and apply tools such as silhouetting, turnarounds, expressions, and prop design, and better understand how to employ these tools when developing holistic characters to a fixed deadline.
Following a series of ‘character study’ exercises, the end of the course saw the completion of two characters suitable for a horror-type game or animated series: ‘Bones’ and ‘Swan’.
